Here is a detailed account of the final rseults of the Bill Taylor trophy race.
The Bill Taylor Trophy series is held over the season on specific races (1 X 800m, 1 X 1500m, 2 X 3000m) with times converted into age-graded percentages, i.e. compared against the world standard for a male or female of that age. The winner of the trophy is the athlete who has competed in at least three of the four races and who has the highest age-graded percentage.
Age grade percentages as of race 2 are: Steve Fairley 77.61% Greg Arnold 73.34% Frank Smedley 69.63% Steve Craw 68.35% Julia Reid 68.32% Werner Schmitt 66.62 A full list of the age grade percentage standings after the second round of the Bill Taylor Trophy can be found in this edition of the Calliope Capers. Bill Taylor Trophy: Race 2
Greg Arnold won the second Bill Taylor Trophy race. However, Steve Fairly is highly likely to take out the percentage best score due to the age difference. Nic Alley led the race strongly from the start. However, by about 4 laps into the 9 lap event, he began to fade as Greg Arnold powered through to take first spot. Steve Fairly ran his usual well paced race to maintain his overall lead in the series.
3000 metres (Bill Taylor) 1. Greg Arnold 11:08 2. Steve Fairly 11:34 3. Nic Alley 11:48 3000 metres (Walkers) 1. Frank Smedley 18:58 2. Werner Schmitt 20:24 3. Rob Purdie 24:03 |
