Mysterious sightings of Roy Bennett (or was it a UFO?)

It has emerged that ex-Calliopian and semi-extinguished athlete, Roy Bennett, was seen with the old buggers last Saturday, walking through Highbury shops. Close sources suggest that the octaginarian and ex-pentathlete is moving back into serious secret training for the discus competition this coming Wednesday night, Feb 15th.

It is also reported that as soon as his "wins" the discus, he will announce a takeover for the presidency of the club. A close source said "if he fails in his attempt, he will retreat back to his home town across the ditch."

Another source put it eloquently: "aaah he's grand old fella, but the power of winning a discus event does tend to go to his head". Rumour has it, that when his turn comes to throw the discus, he will be given one in the shape of a boomerang.

Zindal Osgood on comeback trail!

It has emerged that Zindal Osgood will be making a guest comeback appearance in the Calliope 10,000m championships on March 8th.

Reliable sources suggest that Osgood is in top form for a man of 73 years. It is reported that Osgood will attempt the Calliope record (for a male personage in their 74th year) in the 10 km event.

Some officials says that an ambulance will be nearby should he fail.

Ex-calliopian, Graham Bateman, will be on hand to witness the event. Bateman, currently on the mend from heart surgery, has announced his own comeback in the near future.
